Downpour in Hulu Selangor until early morning tomorrow — MetMalaysia

SHAH ALAM, March 27 — Heavy rain, strong winds and thunderstorms are anticipated for the district of Hulu Selangor later tonight, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia)

In a statement released at 9pm, the agency said the inclement weather will last until 1am tomorrow morning.

“Other states and locations which are expected to undergo strong weather include Kedah (Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap, Sik and Baling) and Perak (Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim)

“Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Lipis, Raub, Bentong, Bera and Rompin) will also see inclement weather, as will Jempol in Negeri Sembilan and the Labuan Federal Territory,” it said.

MetMalaysia added that parts of Sabah will experience strong weather, including Pedalaman (Kuala Penyu and Beaufort), Pantai Barat (Tuaran, Ranau and Kota Belud), Tawau (Tawau and Lahad Datu), Sandakan and Kudat.

The agency issues a warning when there are signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm/hour which are expected to occur over the one-hour duration.

Thunderstorm warnings are short-term and are valid within six hours after it was issued.
