SHAH ALAM, March 8 — Thunderstorms and heavy rains in Selangor are expected to continue until 10am today, says the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
The department had on a Facebook post issued the warning to occur in six districts within Selangor involving Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Klang, Petaling, Kuala Langat and Sepang.
The warning issued at 7.05am today, also predicted similar bad weather in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Labuan and eight other states.
Heavy downpours since yesterday afternoon had caused flash floods that inundated several areas in Selangor and the Federal capital.
“The warning is issued when there are signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm/hour or is expected to take place for over an hour.
“Thunderstorms warning is a short-term warning which is valid within six hours after it is issued,” the statement read.
Other states facing a similar bad weather condition include Kedah, Penang, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor.
