Inclement weather warning for three Selangor districts

SHAH ALAM, March 9 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in several areas of Selangor this afternoon.

In a Facebook post, MetMalaysia said the bad weather is expected to start between 3pm until 7pm today.

Selangor’s districts that will be affected include Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Langat.

The agency also forecasted similar weather for Kuala Lumpur as well as several districts within Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu) and Perak (Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim).

“The warning is issued when there are signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm/hour which are expected to occur over the one-hour duration.

“Thunderstorms warning is a short-term warning which is valid within six hours after it was issued,” said MetMalaysia.

The warning was issued at 1.15pm today.
