MetMalaysia: Most of Selangor to see deluge tonight

SHAH ALAM, March 14 — Seven of Selangor’s districts is predicted to experience heavy rains, strong winds and thunderstorms until late tonight, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia)

The districts include Kuala Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat and Sepang. Other states and territories expected to experience inclement weather include Perlis, Penang, Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory, and Putrajaya Federal Territory.

“Heavy rains, strong winds and thunderstorms will also affect Kedah (Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Yan, Pendang and Kuala Muda) as well as Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu and Seremban)

“In East Malaysia, Sarawak will be affected, with its areas including (Bintulu and Sebauh), Miri (Subis, Beluru, Miri and Marudi) and Limbang. All the aforementioned locations will see strong weather until 10pm tonight,” MetMalaysia said in a statement issued at 6.45pm.

The agency issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
