Four Selangor districts to experience thunderstorms, heavy rain this morning

SHAH ALAM, April 6 — Four districts in Selangor are expected to undergo thunderstorms, strong winds and heavy rains until 9am today, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia)

In a warning issued at 7am on Facebook, MetMalaysia said the districts include Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Klang and Kuala Langat.

The agency has also issued warnings of similar weather for the whole of Melaka and parts of Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Manjung, Perak Tengah, Bagan Datuk and Hilir Perak) and Sarawak: Miri (Subis, Miri and Marudi) and Limbang.

MetMalaysia also predicted similar bad weather to last until 10am today in several districts within the states of Terengganu (Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Kuala Terengganu and Marang) and Johor (Muar, Batu Pahat and Pontian).

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
