SHAH ALAM, May 16 — Heavy rain since noon today that lasted for more than three hours in several districts in the state had caused flash floods in Hulu Selangor.
According to a Bernama report, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) personnel had rescued three individuals including a child who was trapped in the flash floods in Kampung Jawa.
While Sinar Harian reported that among the affected areas are Kerling, Kampung Kelapa and in front of the Royal Malaysia Police College (PDRM) intersection in Kuala Kubu Bharu.
Apart from that, social media users also shared information on other affected places including the Taman Serendah Makmur housing area.
Meanwhile, Hulu Selangor Information Office informed that the water level at the river along Kuala Kubu Bharu, Kampung Pertak and Batang Kali has increased sharply due to the high amount of rain that exceeded the normal rate.
“Agencies from the Hulu Selangor District Disaster Committee are actively coordinating the temporary relief centre (PPS) to accommodate the affected victims.
“Watch out for your children. Do not let them play in floodwater or in a nearby drainage to avoid any tragedy,” said the agency on Facebook.
The agency urged the public to share the latest information on the flood situations at their respective locations as well as contact the authorities if they needed help.
