KUALA LANGAT, May 23 — The Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI, has contributed RM200,000 to help mend the infrastructure of several schools.

Its corporate social responsibility head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said that the contribution had been disbursed to more than 25 schools as of May.

“Each school received an allocation of between RM5,000 and RM20,000. The approved aid applications include roof restoration, sports facilities, and replacement of canteen furniture.

“We welcome any school, including the Orang Asli schools to apply for the assistance,” he said when met after handing over Hari Raya Aidilfitri donations to teachers and students of Sekolah Kebangsaan (Asli) Bukit Kemandol, here today.

This year, MBI initiated a particular programme involving schools and students with an allocation of RM1 million.

The funds include RM500,000 for the development of school infrastructure, while the remaining amount is for the Parent-Teacher Associations (PTA) programmes.

Meanwhile, 82 teachers and students from Sekolah Kebangsaan (Asli) Bukit Kemandol received Hari Raya biscuits from MBI.

Ahmad Azri said the initiative is one of the efforts from MBI to brighten up the festival for the Orang Asli community.

“The biscuits were bought from the Wanita Berdaya Selangor, which indirectly helps boost the economy of women,” he said.

Ahmad Azri said MBI would visit other Orang Asli schools to distribute the donation soon.

“The programme is organised to ensure the Orang Asli community is not left behind as they also contribute to the state’s economy.

“We would also continue working with the Pusat Wanita Berdaya to help them market their products,” he added.
