SHAH ALAM, May 27 — The Selangor Women’s Welfare and Charity Organisation (Pekawanis) members have been encouraged to publicise the state’s free health screening programme Selangor Saring in their respective areas.
Its Welfare, Social and Celebration Bureau chief Datin Sharifah Mahiza Syed Abd Kadir said the programme is greatly beneficial and the public should seize the opportunity to get free medical checkups.
“We urge our members to take the initiative to publicise this programme so the people in Selangor can check their health status,” she said when met after the Rumah Puteri Arafiah (RPA) Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house here today.
Also present to grace the event was RPA patron Tengku Putri Datin Paduka Hajjah Arafiah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz.
The state government has allocated RM3.4 million for the implementation of Selangor Saring, which focuses on providing free medical checkups for people in the state.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the programme is expected to benefit some 39,000 people especially those at risk including individuals with a family history of ailments, those who are overweight and those living unhealthy lifestyles.
The initiative started last week at the Ijok state constituency and continues tomorrow at the Grand Sabak Hotel for the Sabak and Sungai Air Tawar state constituencies while for the Sungai Panjang state constituency it will be held at Dewan Simpang Lima, Sungai Besar.
