KLANG, May 22 — The finale of the state-organised Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house was held at the Dataran Kompleks Sukan Pandamaran, Klang, last night, with more than 7,000 guests attending the event.

The programme started from 8pm until 11pm and was also attended by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari and his wife, Datin Seri Masdiana Muhamad.

Also in attendance were Selangor State Secretary Datuk Haris Kasim, state executive councillor for Islamic affairs Mohamad Zawawi Ahmad Mughni, Pandamaran state assemblyman Tony Leong Tuck Chee, Klang state assemblyman Azmizam Zamanhuri and Klang Municipal Council (MPK) president Noraini Roslan.

Meanwhile, Amirudin said a prize worth RM50,000 awaits the district to have hosted the best Hari Raya open houses based on the liveliness of the event.

He said the prizes and rewards will be given to the winner out of the nine districts.

“We will discuss the matter in a closed meeting and announce it soon next week. We would also like to thank everyone who were involved in organising the open houses including the guests who had attended and showed their support,” he said in a speech at the Hari Raya open house, here, last night.

During the event, the Menteri Besar had handed out duit raya to the children and mingled with the guests.

The event featured a performance by the Selangor Malay Customs and Heritage Corporation (Padat) and guests were treated with a variety of delicacies and beverages, including nasi impit, satay, rendang, ayam golek, kuey teow, pastries, and many more.

The large-scale open houses were held in nine districts, which commenced on May 15 in Hulu Selangor and ended in Petaling and Klang yesterday.
