SUBANG JAYA, June 2 — The Coalition of Single Mothers’ Association (Gabungan Persatuan Ibu Tunggal) has been launched in Selangor to help with the empowerment of the group.

State executive councillor for women and family development Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud said the initiative will be extended to all state constituencies given its enormous benefit.

“The coalition will cooperate strategically with Pusat Wanita Berdaya. They are also expected to receive a one-time grant to implement various suitable programmes,” she said.

Dr Siti Mariah launched the organisation during the officiation of the Selangor Mekar Kasih Ibu Tunggal 2022 programme earlier today.

Meanwhile, she said she hopes the clubs and associations for single mothers in the state will focus on the conflict phase, recovery and empowerment issues faced by its members.

“The challenges of all these phases are different and require differing (forms of) support. Thus with a clear route ahead, it brings benefits and a brighter development for the future of the children,” Dr Siti Mariah said.
