Job fair helps companies, govt agencies employ suitable workers

SHAH ALAM, June 12 — The Selangor Mega Job Fair 2022 has helped Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport) to promote their services to the public.

Its Compensation, Rewards, and Industrial Relations head Fawzie Badli said not many people are aware of the company since it is located in Port Klang.

“When we opened a booth here, we received positive feedback from the public. In just half an hour, nearly 40 job applications were submitted and this is something good for the company.

“We are offering over 80 job opportunities, from general workers to executive level. Moving forward, we plan to continue participating in the state-organised job fair programme as it helps in finding quality workers,” he told SelangorKini.

Meanwhile, Kajang Prison’s representative Inspector Sohedi Ismail said the department used the opportunity to raise awareness by displaying prison items such as hang ropes, clothing of inmates and their necessities to attract the visitors.

“Many people have little knowledge about prisons. Hence, we take advantage of this programme by holding an exhibition so that the community could get some additional information.

“Many people showed their interest as we received many visitors at our booth this morning. We also suggested that they apply for the vacancies through the Public Services Commission of Malaysia website,” he said.

The two-day job fair taking place at the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) Convention Centre is offering over 20,000 employment opportunities.

Among the companies participating in the fair are Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor Bhd, Daikin Malaysia Sdn Bhd, DHL Express, DRB Hicom Bhd, Giant Malaysia and Malayan Banking Bhd.

Others include Media Prima Digital, Perusahaan Otomobil Nasional Sdn Bhd (Proton), Prasarana Malaysia Bhd, Shopee Malaysia, Sport Direct MST Sdn Bhd, and Toyota Auto Body Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
