Squally weather for five Selangor districts until tonight — MetMalaysia

SHAH ALAM, June 18 — Five districts in Selangor are expected to experience heavy rains, strong winds and thunderstorms until later tonight, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In a statement issued at 6.10pm, it said the districts include Sabak Bernam, Klang, Petaling, Kuala Langat and Sepang.

“Other areas and states which will also experience strong weather include Labuan, Putrajaya, Penang and Kedah (Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Kulim and Bandar Baharu).

“Also affected is Perak (Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk and Hilir Perak), Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron), Negeri Sembilan (Seremban, Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah, Rembau and Tampin), Johor (Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru), Sarawak: Miri (Miri and Marudi) and Sabah: Pedalaman (Kuala Penyu),” said the agency.

The inclement weather is expected to persist until 9pm.

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
