SHAH ALAM, June 16 — The ongoing work to strengthen river banks and overcoming flash floods in Taman Kinrara, Puchong, will be completed by this August.
Kinrara state assemblyman Ng Sze Han said two flood mitigation works are being carried out in the area, which include the strengthening and stabilisation of the riverbanks in Sungai Kuyoh and the construction of river bunds.
“This project aims to prevent Sungai Kuyoh’s riverbanks from collapsing as it could endanger Kinrara Court residents.
“Meanwhile, the construction of river bunds will prevent water overflow during heavy rains that can flood the Taman Kinrara area,” he told SelangorKini.
Ng, who is also the state executive councillor for local government, said the flood mitigation works are carried out by the Kuala Lumpur Drainage and Irrigation Department (KLDID) with a total cost of almost RM1.1 million.
“Thank you to the Kuala Lumpur DID for the works being carried out, and hopefully the flood problem will not happen again here in the future,” he said.
Ng also spent time inspecting the flood mitigation works on June 14 with the Petaling DID and several residents’ associations representatives.
