HULU LANGAT, June 19 — The Selangor Penyayang roadshow programme introduces a number of new and improved efforts that allows more residents to enjoy the benefits of the state government’s initiatives.

The roadshow is being held in nine districts, with each district presenting different sub-sectors that would benefit the people, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

“Today in Hulu Langat we introduced the housing sub-sector, which is why we launched the housing programme. After this in Kuala Langat, we will focus on the welfare sub-sector.

“This is an effort to reintroduce our people’s welfare initiative known as the Selangor Penyayang Initiative or Iltizam Selangor Penyayang,” he said in a speech at the Selangor Penyayang roadshow at the Hulu Langat district, held at Taman Kosas, Ampang, here today.

According to Amirudin, the state government spends a total of RM600 million every year to ensure the initiative’s success.

“We still spend the same amount after the adjustment and improvements made. We used to put a lot of attention on free water, which cost RM200 million. After we cap it to 600,000 accounts, the excess of this allocation is provided to other initiatives.

“This includes expanding the number of people eligible for the Skim Peduli Sihat scheme. We have also introduced Selangor Saring dan Bingkas (Bantuan Kehidupan Selangor),” he said.

Earlier, the event saw the handing over of 2,013 units of Rumah Selangorku Idaman from the Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI to the Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS).

The letter of agreement was also handed over for the purchase of 50 units of the Smart Rental Scheme from Setia EcoHill Sdn Bhd to the LPHS.

The next Selangor Penyayang roadshow will continue at Dataran Pantai Morib, Kuala Langat, on 25 June.
