Selangor plans to add electrical, electronics event in SIBS

SHAH ALAM, July 6 — The state government intends to add another event to the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) in the coming future.

State executive councillor for trade and investment Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said the electrical and electronics (E&E) sector has the potential to be added as a new event in the state’s business summit following demand from several countries.

“In the Selangor Industrial Master Plan, electrical and electronics is one of the sectors that we wanted to focus on. But for now, our focus is on other sectors such as food and beverages.

“We hope in the future we can highlight the electrical and electronics sector. Yet we need to do it step by step by focusing on the other six events in SIBS first,” he said at the official launch of the SIBS 2022 here yesterday.

SIBS’s six main events are the Selangor International Expo (SIE) Food and Beverages, SIE Medic, Selangor Industrial Park Expo (Spark), the Selangor Asean Business Conference (SABC), the Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention (SDEC) and the Selangor Research and Development and Innovation Expo (SRIE).

SIBS 2022 will take place from October 6 to October 9 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC).

The state government is aiming for potential sales of up to RM350 million, in addition to attracting some 30,000 visitors during the four-day programme.
