Free health screenings at three state constituencies this weekend

SHAH ALAM, Aug 11 — The free health screening organised by the Selangor government to assist people in early disease detection will be held in three state constituencies on August 13 and 14.

The Selangor Saring programme will be carried out at Dewan Rozel MBSA, Seksyen U6 (Kota Damansara) on Saturday, while on Sunday, the event will be at Dewan Rafflesia MBSA (Kota Anggerik) and Dewan Teratai Batu 17 Rawang (Rawang).

State executive councillor for public health Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud said that the public is taught through the Selangor Screening programme to be mindful of their health and to take preventative action as soon as possible.

“Everyone is aware that living expenses are rising. Health care expenses are also included. In all honesty, this initiative has received significant funding and effort from the state government.

“This is by far one of the best initiatives offered by the Selangor government. Being healthy and fit is indeed a blessing,” she said on Facebook.

To ensure the programme’s success, the state government has set aside RM3.4 million in its budget, which would benefit 39,000 people, particularly those with a family medical history, who are obese and practise an unhealthy lifestyle.

Up to September 4, the programme provides physical screening, blood and urine tests, eye, cervical, and breast cancer screenings, as well as occult faeces or colon and prostate cancer testing.
