SHAH ALAM, Aug 21 — Batu Tiga state assemblyman Rodziah Ismail has stated that many state assemblymen wish for the Selangor Saring free health screening programme to continue in the future.

She said the programme, organised in all 56 state constituencies, has been met with an unexpectedly positive response, as well as providing great benefits to the residents.

“The state government can take this into consideration as we want the people to prioritise their health. We do not only look after their economic welfare but their health as well,” Rodziah said.

The state executive councillor for housing and entrepreneur development was speaking when inspecting Selangor Saring, held at Dewan Heritier in Section 14 earlier today.

Rodziah added that almost 1,000 residents in the state constituency are expected to undergo health screenings since as of 12pm today over 900 individuals have pre-registered on the SELangkah app.

“So far about 500 participants have already redeemed their vouchers. We expect more residents will come and attend until Selangor Saring ends at 4pm.

“The stimulating response is indicative that people are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of knowing their respective health conditions, and preventing diseases from the onset,” she said.

The state government has channelled RM3.4 million to ensure the success of Selangor Saring, which will benefit 39,000 people, particularly those with a family history of hereditary ailments, obese individuals, or those leading unhealthy lifestyles.

Physical screening, blood and urine tests, eye, cervical and breast cancer, occult or colorectal faecal blood testing, and prostate tests are all available during the programme, which runs until September 4.
