Whole state to see strong weather until early morning tomorrow — MetMalaysia

SHAH ALAM, Aug 28 — All of Selangor is expected to see inclement weather until early into the morning tomorrow, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia)

In a statement issued at 7.50pm, the agency said other states and territories which will be similarly affected include Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Labuan, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka.

“Gua Musang in Kelantan, Johor (Tangkak, Segamat, Muar and Batu Pahat) and Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Lipis, Raub, Bentong, Temerloh, Bera and Rompin) will also see heavy rains, strong winds and thunderstorms.

“Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim) will also be affected,” it said, adding the weather will persist until 2am on Monday (August 29)

In East Malaysia, Sarawak’s affected districts include Sibu (Sibu and Selangau), Mukah (Daro, Matu, Dalat and Mukah), Bintulu, Miri (Subis, Beluru, Miri and Marudi) and Limbang (Limbang), where the weather will last until 11pm.

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
