SHAH ALAM, Oct 24 — Thunderstorms, strong winds and heavy rains are expected in five Selangor districts until 10pm today, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
In a statement issued at 6.35pm, the agency said the districts include Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Langat.
“Several other states and territories in the Peninsula are also expected to be affected, including Perak (Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim), Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Lipis, Raub, Bentong, Temerloh, Maran, Bera and Rompin), Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor (Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat and Pontian).
“Meanwhile, Sarawak’s affected districts include Kuching (Lundu) and Miri, while Sabah’s districts include Pedalaman (Kuala Penyu and Beaufort), Pantai Barat (Tuaran, Ranau and Kota Belud), Tawau (Lahad Datu) and Sandakan (Tongod, Telupid, Kinabatangan and Beluran), as well as Labuan,” it said.
MetMalaysia issues weather warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with expected rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is predicted to occur close to or more than an hour.
The inclement weather warning is a short-term notice valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
