PKR officially announces Amirudin to run for Gombak parliamentary seat

SHAH ALAM, Oct 28 — Selangor Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) chairman Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari is officially announced to be contesting the Gombak parliamentary seat in the 15th general election (GE15).

The party made the official announcement when unveiling its GE15 candidate at Padang MPAJ in Taman Kosas, Ampang, tonight, which was broadcasted live.

Aside from the Selangor Menteri Besar, who will be going against Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s (Bersatu) Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, Selangor state executive councillor Rodziah Ismail is expected to contest the Ampang seat against its incumbent Datuk Seri Zuraida Kamarudin.

“Gombak, do not worry Amir (Amirudin). We will send our ‘commander’ to Gombak,” said PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim before the candidates were officially named.

Several other prominent party figures to contest in the upcoming polls are:

  • Anwar to contest the Tambun parliamentary seat in Perak, going against its incumbent Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, who is also the caretaker Youth and Sports Minister.
  • Former deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to contest the Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary seat in Federal Territory Kuala Lumpur, going against its incumbent Datuk Kamarudin Jaffar.
  • PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli to contest the Pandan parliamentary seat in Federal Territory Kuala Lumpur, taking over from Wan Azizah who is the incumbent MP.
  • Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun to contest the Port Dickson parliamentary seat, taking over from Anwar, who is the incumbent MP.
  • Former primary industries deputy minister Shamsul Iskandar Mat Akin to contest the Bagan Datuk parliamentary seat in Perak, going against its incumbent and Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
  • PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar to defend her parliamentary seat of Permatang Pauh in Penang.
  • Nik Omar Nik Abdul Aziz, a son of the late PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, to contest the Pasir Salak parliamentary seat in Perak, going against its incumbent and former Kumpulan Prasarana Malaysia Berhad chairman Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman.
