Selangor business summit 2022 records highest number of exhibitors — Exco

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 6 — The Selangor International Business Summit 2022 opens its doors today, registering the highest number of exhibitors since the annual event was first held in 2015 with a record 906 booths from 623 companies.

State executive councillor for investment, industry and trade Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said that the trade show also has set a new record with 24 countries participating in the event. The participants also include 10 out of 13 states in Malaysia.

In his welcoming remarks, Teng said that there are a total of 262 international and domestic buyers hosted at the event.

“Together with other trade visitors, returning to Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) for the next four days, I am confident that we will be reaching our 2022 target of RM350 million worth of negotiated transaction value,” he said in during the launching ceremony of the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2022 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, here today.

The eighth edition of the SIBS, which was officiated by Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah, features six main components and three parallel events running concurrently from October 6 to October 9.

The four-day business summit will cover the following highlights:

Selangor International Expo (F&B) 2022

A total of 472 booths occupy the ground floor of the convention centre which include the Supermarket Buyers Programme, a programme that onboards SIE exhibitors with supermarkets. The programme sees eight supermarkets participating this year compared to only two last year.

Selangor Asean Business Conference (SABC)

The Selangor Asean Business Conference hosts some 250 attendees on live stream and will continue with four more panel sessions with international and regional speakers for a one-day conference on October 6.

Selangor Smart City & Digital Economy Convention (SDEC)

A total of 113 booths featuring smart city applications, start-ups and related digital economy players which will also feature new elements that include the Selangor SME Digitalisation Conference, the Asian Smart City Conference, the Asean Livestream Festival and Pitch@Selangor 6: Selangor Fashion Accelerator programme.

Selangor R&D and Innovation Expo (SRIE)

The third installation features 112 booths and occupies the new wing of the convention centre.

Selangor International Expo (Medic)

This event focuses on medical and pharmaceutical products and services, showcasing a total of 86 booths with international participants coming from four countries.

Selangor Industrial Park Expo (SPARK)

An expo featuring industrial estates and its ecosystem within Selangor with a total of 123 booths.

Selangor International Culinary Festival (SICF 2022)

The third edition features individual and team competitions for professional and aspiring chefs from all over Malaysia.

Selangor International Healthcare Conference (SIHC 2022)

This event starts on October 7 until Sunday (October 9) and hosts 250 attendees with a focus on three themes: The Future of Healthcare, Population Healthcare and Healthcare Financing.

Asian Smart City Conference: Mayors Summit and Selangor Declaration

This event will see 15 mayors and representatives from 15 cities in Australia, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan, China and Malaysia, who will be sharing their knowledge, experiences, and approaches to resolve city liveability challenges through smart technologies.
