KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 — The exhibitors who participated in Selangor R&D and Innovation Expo (SRIE) 2022 have acknowledged the event proved to be a useful stepping stone to expand their business.

Themed ‘Disrupt Today, Create Tomorrow!’, the expo was held as part of the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2022 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

The exhibition enables participants to showcase their latest inventions and ideas to investors, manufacturers and marketers in the Asean region and beyond.

For Astra Taipan Sdn Bhd Sales and Product Development manager Dominic Chee, this is his first experience joining SIBS after its organiser approached him several months ago.

“We decided to give it a try to promote our first smart distribution system mobile app ‘Stealth’, to a larger audience.

“The responses have been encouraging since the first day of SRIE, andwe received many inquiries from local and international small-and-medium enterprises keen on exploring how the platform works.

“Through our participation in SIBS 2022, we hope to be of help to other SMEs in finding the right platform to distribute their products and services,” he said at the expo, adding that ‘Stealth’ aims to assist businesses in terms of logistics capacity and sales data access.

Meanwhile, Ominen Sdn Bhd Digital Marketing Executive Nop Lee said as a first-timer, he found SRIE quite interesting as it assembles numerous industry players under the same roof.

“Previously, we joined various expos on research and innovation in the United States and other European countries, so we are quite familiar with how expos are conducted on the international level.

“So there is room for improvement, particularly when it comes to networking sessions. I hope this can be improved in the future and the organiser should invite more industry players to the event,” he said.

Lee was representing his company to introduce IGL Coatings, a Malaysian technology firm based in Shah Alam which focuses on developing innovative and disruptive nanotechnology products.

The range of coatings by IGL Coatings has been expanded from automotive coatings to aviation, marine, and industrial coatings which is supported by effective and eco-friendly cleaning and maintenance products.

With approximately 906 booths from 623 companies, SIBS 2022 ran from October 6 to October 9, receiving over 30,000 visitors during its duration.
