Three Selangor districts to see thunderstorm until 7pm — MetMalaysia

SHAH ALAM, Oct 24 — Thunderstorms, strong winds and heavy rains are expected in three Selangor districts until 7pm today, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In a statement issued at 3.40pm, the agency said the districts include Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Langat.

“Most states and territories in Peninsula are also expected to be affected, including Kedah (Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu), Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim), Terengganu (Besut, Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Kuala Terengganu, Marang, Dungun and Kemaman), Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Lipis, Raub, Bentong, Temerloh, Bera and Rompin), Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and Johor (Tangkak, Muar, Batu Pahat and Kluang).

“Meanwhile, Sarawak districts of Sri Aman, Sarikei (Julau), Sibu (Kanowit and Selangau), Mukah (Mukah), Kapit (Song), Bintulu, Miri (Subis, Beluru, Miri dan Marudi) and Limbang will also be expecting inclement weather.

“As for Sabah, bad weather is expected in Pedalaman (Sipitang), Pantai Barat (Ranau), Tawau (Lahad Datu) and Sandakan (Telupid dan Beluran),” it said in a Facebook post.

MetMalaysia issues weather warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with expected rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is expected to occur close to or more than an hour.

The inclement weather warning is a short-term notice valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
