SHAH ALAM, Nov 24 — Media Selangor’s TikTok page is currently doing very well and is receiving good reception with many likes and subscribers.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the government-linked media entity has published a lot of programmes and news on behalf of the state government on a multitude of platforms.
“Media Selangor publishes newspapers in four different languages, namely Malay, English, Mandarin and Tamil. They even have various social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok.
“Impressively, their TikTok platform is gaining a lot of traction with lots of views and likes. Some would say it is even better received than some larger media establishments. However, I understand it is not the easiest platform to manage because the competition is tough,” he said during the Question Time in the Selangor State Legislative Assembly, here today.
Amirudin said that the state administration is also looking into adding more billboard and digital billboard locations in the state as it is influential in carrying out important information for the people.
“Some of the locations are controlled by the local authorities, so it will take some time. But, I am in the midst of discussion and hope to get some locations to set up the billboards.
“We will focus on setting up digital billboards which are more advanced as its ability to switch information in a loop allows more government information and benefits to be disseminated to the people,” he said.
Responding to a supplementary question from Teratai state assemblyman Lai Wai Chong in regards to if the billboards are open for the opposition party’s usage, Amirudin answered in jest that it is not determined but all interested parties are allowed to apply to the “friendly government legislative council”.
Meanwhile, the Menteri Besar also responded to Sungai Ramal assemblyman Mazwan Johor that the billboards are an asset to the state government aside from just being a great platform to disseminate governmental initiatives.
“The expansion of the management of billboards does not only broaden the government’s reach to the members of the public but can also become a profitable asset when we are able to attract commercial participation,” he said.
