Inclement weather throughout entire state until evening — MetMalaysia

SHAH ALAM, Nov 6 — The whole of Selangor is expected to be hit with thunderstorms, heavy rains and strong winds until 7pm today, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In a warning issued at 3.55pm, the agency said similar weather conditions are also anticipated in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

“Inclement weather is also expected in several other areas, namely Kedah (Sik, Baling and Kulim), Perak (Larut, Matang and Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim), Kelantan (Pasir Mas, Jeli, Tanah Merah, Machang, Pasir Maran, Kuantan, Bera, Pekan and Rompin), and Terengganu (Besut and Setiu).

“Similarly, Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Raub, Bentong, Temerloh, Maran, Kuantan, Bera, Pekan and Rompin, Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Kuala Pilah, Rembau, Jempol and Tampin), Johor (Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Mersing and Kota Tinggi) will also see strong weather,” it said.

Most parts of East Malaysia will also undergo inclement weather, namely Sarawak: Sarikei (Sarikei and Meradong), Sibu (Sibu and Selangau), Mukah, Kapit, Bintulu (Tatau) and Limbang as well as Sabah: Pedalaman (Beaufort), Pantai Barat (Kota Belud), Tawau (Lahad Datu), and Kudat (Kota Marudu).

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding an hour for a single release.
