SHAH ALAM, Dec 20 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari took time off his schedule to visit Selangor Fire and Rescue Department’s (JBPM) director Datuk Norazam Khamis at Selayang Hospital today.

The department in a statement said Amirudin was at the hospital by 12.46pm and was accompanied by the hospital’s health officer.

“We hope Norazam will recover quickly,” it said.

The state fire chief was rushed to the hospital yesterday after suffering a suspected minor stroke during the search-and-rescue (SAR) operation for landslide victims at the Father’s Organic Farm campsite in Batang Kali.

Norazam had been working tirelessly since the operation started and was one of the busiest people at ground zero.

In the incident at about 2.42am on Friday (December 16), a landslide measuring nearly 300 metres long and 70 metres high hit the campsite located along Jalan Genting – Batang Kali.

The landslide has so far claimed 24 lives with nine victims still missing, while 61 of the 94 victims were rescued.
