SHAH ALAM, Dec 3 — The state government is prepared to play a more important role in developing plans and carrying out the agenda to augment public transportation in the Klang Valley more holistically, said state executive councillor for public transport Ng Sze Han.

He said the appointment of Anthony Loke as Transport Minister was a good opportunity to resume where they had left off. Loke formerly held the portfolio from May 2018 to February 2020, during the Pakatan Harapan Federal administration.

“Many missions in the Selangor state transportation portfolio were disrupted after the collapse of the Harapan government in March 2020.

“When Loke headed the ministry, I represented the state government alongside representatives from other state governments in National Transportation Council meetings which he chaired. I hope the council meetings can resume after this,” Ng said.

In congratulating Loke on his reappointment, the councillor said it is time to see Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and the Federal Territories work in sync to develop the Klang Valley’s public transportation.

“May our mission to increase the usage rate of public transportation in Malaysia be realised,” he said.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced his Cabinet line-up, a week after being appointed to the premiership.

Loke is joined by other Pakatan Harapan members in the Cabinet, including Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail as Home Minister, Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub as Domestic Trade and Living Costs Minister, Fahmi Fadzil as Digital Communications Minister, and Hannah Yeoh as Youth and Sports Minister
