City councils must deliver quality service, efficient problem-solving: MB

By Sheeda Fathil

SUBANG JAYA, Jan 16 — Local councils that have attained city status must be able to incorporate the status into their quality of service and efficient administration, says Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

The Menteri Besar said that achieving the status is not something to be merely proud of, but it should also be experienced by the general public, which includes thorough solutions to various issues.

“The local council should be able to project its abilities in ensuring that quality administration reaches the people. I believe this is a significant challenge that needs to be addressed because there are still semi-urban areas, some are of village status and some are still at risk of floods.

“This indicates that in addition to having a status to be proud of, there must be a comprehensive solution and the capacity to serve the people to ensure their happiness,” said Amirudin when delivering his speech during the launch of the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) Sustainable Community Award 2022, here last night.

Meanwhile, Amirudin expressed his hope that the local councils with city status would be able to increase the quality of their services and the efficiency of their operations, including regular interactions with the community.

Amirudin also lauded MBSJ for recognising the people’s representative council (MPP) by hosting an event to honour those involved and celebrate their accomplishments.

“As the prime minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) has repeatedly said in his speeches, we should not be developing while simultaneously destroying humanity.

“Which is to say we develop highways, new townships and neighbourhoods but while also causing the environment’s sustainability or greenness to deteriorate,” he added.
