By Norrasyidah Arshad

KUALA LUMPUR, March 11 — The organisation of several international level programmes over the past few years has made Selangor the economic gateway to Asia, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the state’s diligent efforts to make the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS), the Selangor Aviation Show (SAS) and the Selangor International Halal Conference (Selhac) a success also introduces local products and entrepreneurs to the world.

“This is a sign of our confidence and earnest efforts to make Selangor the gateway to Asia, the gateway to the region.

“Therefore, we will continue to work to fulfil the dream and make sure it can be implemented as best as possible. We start small and keep growing.

“We are able to attract domestic and foreign investors. We can also improve the economy and help the development of the country,” he said during the 2023 Selhac opening press conference at Putra World Trade Centre yesterday.

Selangor introduced SIBS in 2016 and it has attracted the interest of hundreds of companies every year which includes both foreign and domestic companies. Last year, SIBS recorded a potential negotiation value of RM1.45 billion, much higher than the targeted RM350 million.

While SAS was organised since 2021 to promote aerospace sector growth in addition to providing a platform for local companies as well as small and medium-sized industrial entrepreneurs to explore the field.

Selhac was first organised in March last year at the Shah Alam Convention Centre (SACC) with the participation of over 200 exhibitors and recorded transactions of RM37.73 million.
