2,000 MAF veterans, personnel receive aidilfitri contributions from YLTAT

KUALA LUMPUR, April 17 — A total of 2,000 Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) veterans and personnel throughout the country received the Sinar Aidilfitri assistance from Yayasan Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera (YLTAT) involving an allocation of RM200,000.

YLTAT chief executive Datuk Mohd Nizar Sudin said the assistance provided was in the form of one-off cash payments, food baskets, health equipment and natural disaster relief.

“The beneficiaries are non-pensionable veterans, widows of personnel, orphans, asnaf (tithe recipients), persons with disabilities and those suffering from chronic diseases,” he told the media after presenting the donation today.

Mohd Nizar said the programme this year was carried out in collaboration with the MAF Veteran Affairs Department to ensure aid was distributed in a targeted manner without any duplication.

Meanwhile, a recipient of the donation, Abdullah Ramli, 63, who is paralysed due to a stroke, was grateful for receiving health equipment and cash assistance.

Abdullah’s wife, Zabedah Md Noor, said her husband served as a military policeman for 18 years and did not receive a pension.

“He is now unable to take care of himself and needs full assistance… we live alone as four of our children are married and have their own families,” said Zabedah, who was happy to receive the aid which would help reduce the burden ahead of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.
