SHAH ALAM, May 19 – The second phase of the Selangor Saring programme, which offers free health screenings to the public, will begin this Sunday at nine locations, said state executive councillor for public health Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud.

The state government is targeting 3,000 individuals in the second phase of the programme.

“Selangor Saring will run until the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) and will continue even after. This is an ongoing programme for the benefit of the people.

“Participants can undergo physical examinations, blood and urine tests, as well as screenings for four types of cancer. They can also receive eye, dental, ear, and physiotherapy check-ups,” she told SelangorKini.

Dr Siti Mariah added the programme will kick off at Dewan MBSA in Paya Jaras Tengah this Sunday (May 21), followed by Dewan Sungai Gulang-gulang in Permatang on May 27, and the Hulu Bernam state assemblymen’s office on May 28.

Selangor Saring, scheduled from 9am to 3pm, will also be held at Dewan Seri Siantan in Sungai Tua on June 3, Kompleks Penghulu Mukim Hulu Langat in Dusun Tua on June 4, and the Dewan Komuniti Taman Sri Sungai Pelek on June 10.

It will also take place on June 11 at the Dewan Taman Banting Baru in Morib, as well as at the Meru and Sungai Kandis state constituency offices, scheduled for June 17 and 18, respectively.

The state government has allocated RM3.4 million to implement Selangor Saring, which targets obese individuals and those leading unhealthy lifestyles.

The councillor previously announced that Selangor Saring is one of six initiatives, including financial assistance, introduced by the state government for the people’s benefit.
