Selangor youths invited to join unity ambassador programme, cultivate leadership skills

By Diana Abd Wahab

SHAH ALAM, May 12 — Members of the public, especially youths in the state, are cordially invited to participate in the 2023 Selangor Unity Ambassador programme organised by the state government.

State executive councillor of public health Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud said the programme is aimed at helping youths to cultivate their skills and knowledge and become leaders of unity and peace in their communities.

“We are seeking 56 representatives from various backgrounds in each Selangor state constituency, who want to reduce religious and ethnic tension in their respective communities.

“Similarly, we also want Unity Ambassadors who can foster a more inclusive environment, as well as build bridges among those of different backgrounds, via various outdoor projects,” she said in a Facebook post yesterday.

Dr Siti Mariah added that 2023 Selangor Unity Ambassador participants will join a training camp from June 23 to June 25, and learn the importance of understanding and communication methodology.

After participating in the training camp, they will be given the responsibility of implementing unity-based field projects with their respective community members, running from June 26 to November 30.

She said each Selangor Unity Ambassador will receive a RM4,000 allocation to implement their respective field projects.

The second series of the programme was launched by the Selangor State Unity and Integration Council, in collaboration with Architects of Diversity.
