HULU SELANGOR, June 25 – The Selangor government’s initiative to organise the Jualan Mega Ehsan Rahmah Aidiladha programme has greatly assisted residents in getting the necessary supplies for the festive season, says Hulu Selangor parliamentary seat coordinator Dr Sathia Prakash Nadarajan
He said the sale, which offers a wider range of essential items, also helps ease the burden faced by residents who are dealing with the high cost of living due to the current economic situation.
“Jualan Ehsan Rahmah (JER) has been held many times before but this is the first time it is held at the parliamentary level after the coordinator of the Batang Kali constituency requested our involvement in organising the Mega Ehsan Rahmah Sale for the festive season.
“Since JER was organised, over 150,000 residents in Hulu Selangor, which includes three state constituencies, namely Hulu Bernam, Kuala Kubu Bharu and Batang Kali, have benefited from it,” he said.
Earlier, Dr Satuia visited the event organised by the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) at the Dataran Niaga Serendah, Hulu Selangor.
“I noticed that hundreds of residents have started queuing up as early as 8am even though the sale only starts at 10am.
“As a doctor, I suggest that more tents be set up for future events to ensure that residents are more comfortable while waiting and to avoid the risk of heatstroke due to the current hot weather,” he said.
Dr Sathia further encouraged residents to seize the opportunity to generate income by setting up stalls in collaboration with the organisers.
The PKPS affordable sale initiative, in collaboration with the Selangor Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama), offers a wider range of essential items, including 2,000 chickens and 900 trays of eggs at each location.
The offered prices include standard chickens at RM10 each, fresh solid meat (RM10 per pack), Grade B eggs (RM10 per tray), mackerel fish (RM6 per pack), 5kg cooking oil (RM25), and 5kg rice (RM10).
PKPS also offers branded dry goods under the Ehsan label, including the one-kilogramme packets of cooking oil, as well as fresh fish, squid, and clams.
