Be agents of truth, counter opposition’s attacks, Amirudin urges election machinery

KLANG, June 26 — Selangor Pakatan Harapan (Harapan) and Barisan Nasional (BN) election machinery have been urged to ward off attacks and fake allegations being played up by political opponents in a desperate bid to secure support for the coming state election.

State Harapan chairman Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said it is vital for machinery from the Unity Government parties to act as vehicles for conveying the truths to the public, in countering such attacks.

“We have to mobilise our machinery immediately. We cannot just stay quiet because these individuals (opposition) are good at whispering, telling lies and twisting facts.

“They don’t have facts, just auta (humbugs). They don’t have a track record, just failures. They will try to create a feeling of uneasiness and dissatisfaction among the rakyat,” he said.

Amirudin said this in his speech during the launch of the Harapan and BN election machinery for the Sungai Kandis state constituency ahead of the upcoming Selangor election, in conjunction with the #arusmerahkuning tour, at the Tapak Rakan Muda Taman Sri Andalas, here, last night.

Over 1,000 supporters were present during the ceremony, including top leaders from the coalitions, such as Kota Raja Umno division chief Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Lokman Noor Adam and Sungai Kandis incumbent Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni.

Meanwhile, Amirudin, who is also Selangor menteri besar, said it is pertinent for the state to be defended from falling into the greedy hands of those who are only out to destroy the state and country.

“It is enough for them to govern for 18 months, our country was in chaos. People like these will only destroy and mess everyone up.

“I believe in the wisdom of the people, but we (machinery) cannot take our feet off the pedal. Everyday, we need to inform our families, friends and neighbours to make #arusmerahkuning as the fortress to defend the state and kick Perikatan Nasional out in the coming polls.

“Whoever contests, be it from Harapan or BN, we must support each other to ensure Selangor remains stable, strong and that everybody can live together in peace and harmony.”

Previously, in the Sungai Kandis by-election held on August 4, 2018, Zawawi won the seat with a majority of 5,842 votes, defeating BN’s candidate Lokman.

The Selangor assembly was officially dissolved last Friday to pave the way for the state election.
