SHAH ALAM, June 20 – Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had not spoken on behalf of the Malaysia United Democratic Alliance (Muda) on the question of an alliance between Selangor Pakatan Harapan (Harapan) and the latter in the upcoming state election.

In a statement today, the Menteri Besar’s press secretary Jay Jay Denis clarified that Amirudin, who is also the Selangor Harapan and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (Keadilan) chief, emphasised that Harapan and Muda are partners based on the previous pact during the 15th general election (GE15).

“What he (Amirudin) said was Keadilan’s commitment and stance that Muda is considered as a partner following their cooperation in the 15th general election seven months ago.

“Amirudin was not speaking on Muda’s behalf… So Muda, please do not show your immaturity and engage in cheap politics by creating imaginary tales.

“I hope this statement can be corrected. If you do wish to play politics, at least check your facts,’’ the statement read.

Earlier, in a statement, Muda’s information chief Luqman Long accused Harapan of misleading the voters and that there have been no discussions initiated by Harapan regarding any alliance or seat negotiations with their party.

In a special press conference in conjunction with the fifth anniversary of his administration yesterday, Amirudin said that any seat allocations or strategic alliances between Harapan and Muda in the upcoming state election will be decided by the Harapan Presidential Council.

However, Amirudin clarified that he is not in the know on the matter as he is not a member of the council.
