SUBANG JAYA, June 14 — Yayasan Selangor has been selected to lead the Education Ministry’s Secretariat for the Foundations in making key decisions pertaining to the national education system.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the joint secretariat involving all state foundations will be responsible in resolving issues concerning the academic, character building poverty, literacy and drop outs.

“The formation of the Secretariat for the Foundations will coordinate our decisions that will have an impact on the country’s education system.

“Yayasan Selangor will head this secretariat, which starts functioning with immediate effect,” she said after an engagement session with the state foundations at the Hotel Grand Dorsett, here, last night.

Among the foundations to participate in the programme include Yayasan Pahang, Yayasan Pelajaran Johor, Yayasan Sarawak, Yayasan Sabah, Yayasan Terengganu and Yayasan Melaka.

Fadhlina described the engagement session as a historic one, after it succeeded in gathering all state foundations in the country.

She said the synergy shown between the government and foundations represents a smart partnership that needs to be taken advantage of, for the advancement of human capital.

Earlier, Yayasan Selangor launched its new logo and the Selangor Education Strategic Plan (Selestari), which was officiated by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
