SHAH ALAM, July 22 — Pakatan Harapan (Harapan) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has today said Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari is among the most accomplished menteris besar in the country due to the latter’s exceptional performance in leading Selangor over his five-year term.

Anwar said this supports the party leadership’s decision to keep Amirudin as the Selangor Menteri Besar should Harapan continues to rule the state following the state elections on August 12.

“To end rumours and speculation, we previously announced that Amirudin would remain Selangor Menteri Besar based on his outstanding performance in leading the state.

“This is due to his performance and successful record, especially in serving the people.

“Of course, (attracting) investments, recording (economic) growth and (developing) major development programmes is also important. But as a party that upholds the welfare of the people, our main task is to serve the people, and he is one of the menteris besar that is known to go to the ground to meet the people in every village and district in Selangor.

“His achievements are commendable, he is one of the successful menteris besar in our country,” said Anwar before announcing the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (Keadilan) candidates for the upcoming state elections in six states at Taman Awam MBSA (Shah Alam City Council) in Section 7, here tonight.

Anwar also announced that Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun would remain the Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar based on his stellar performance in leading the state.

Similarly, Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow will retain his position should the Unity Government and allied with it win the state in the upcoming state polls.

“We also accept the decision for Chow Kon Yeow to remain as Penang Chief Minister if they win in the coming election.

“Same goes to Negeri Sembilan’s Aminudin. He should remain as Menteri Besar based on his performance, too,” he said.

Anwar, who is also Keadilan president, said both Amirudin and Aminuddin have done well in their respective duties and should continue to lead the party well in their respective states.

Voters in Selangor, Penang, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu will head to the polls on August 12 for the 15th state assembly elections.

The nomination day for candidates has been set on July 29, while early voting is on August 8.
