HULU KELANG, July 20 — Selangor Pakatan Harapan will field the best candidates for the Hulu Kelang state constituency seats, to ensure no space is given to traitors.
Selangor Parti Amanah Negara chairman Izham Hashim said the party machinery must also work hard to convince voters not to be deceived by the Opposition during the state election.
“We have heard rumours a leader from the hilltop wants to come here. He ran downhill and wants to come to Hulu. Why run? Because the hill is shaking, and he is not safe.
“If he is so brave, he should defend his own territory. Why run? No matter what, we will contest with great and best candidates. We will make sure there is no place for traitors,” he said.
Hulu Kelang is expected to be one of the hotly contested areas, as prominent leaders from Perikatan Nasional have been rumoured to compete in the state constituency.
The nomination day for the Selangor state election, as well as five other states, is set for July 29, and the polling day on August 12.
Speaking at the launch of the Machinery and Unity Movement Room for Hulu Kelang yesterday evening, Izham also advised voters to be cautious of PAS, which never fails to play on religious sentiments.
Referring to pass as a party of ‘incantations’ (mantera) and ‘curses,’ (jampi serapah), he said they frequently twist facts, especially when it comes to water issues and the allocation of funds for religious institutions.
“PAS often deceives because they rely heavily on tricks, not facts, so deception is their policy. They want to create the perception that they are champions of Islam and the Malays.
“This is actually a dangerous culture of dividing communities. It may seem ordinary, but its consequences are significant. So, let us not allow them to bring this division to Selangor,” Izham said.
