SHAH ALAM, July 11 — The Jelajah Ehsan Rakyat (JER) programme organised by Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) officials in Kampung Tunku yesterday benefited more than 400 residents in the constituency and wider Petaling Jaya.

The event, held in collaboration with the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation, was spearheaded by Billy Wong, Nalina Nair and Ong Yew Thai, who are MBPJ councillors for Zones 8, 19 and 20, respectively.

Programme participants were able to purchase a range of goods, such as chicken, eggs, rice, cooking oil, fish, and beef, at prices approximately 40 per cent below market value, the councillors said in a joint statement today.

Kampung Tunku assemblywoman, Lim Yi Wei, whose office previously organised four JER programmes at various locations, each with the attendance of over 300 residents, also supported yesterday’s event.

The dissolution of the state assembly on June 23 means representatives like Lim could not have organised the event.

JER, an initiative introduced by the Selangor government, aims to alleviate the financial strain caused by the rising cost of living by selling everyday goods and other essentials at discounted prices.

In their statement, the MBPJ councillors said yesterday’s JER programme presented an opportunity for Lim to distribute her report card for her term as Kampung Tunku assemblywoman.

The report card, available in Bahasa Melayu, English, and Mandarin, details major programmes, initiatives, and policy work carried out by Lim over the past five years.
