SHAH ALAM, July 14 — An impressive number Malays in Selangor have expressed satisfaction at the performances of the Pakatan Harapan (Harapan) state government and its Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, a recent survey conducted on the majority race has found.
In total, 71 per cent of the 1,068 respondents said they approved of Amirudin’s performance the past term, while 68 per cent gave their thumbs up to the overall Harapan administration, according to Astro Awani.
The study done by Endeavour-MGC also found that 46 per cent of respondents felt Amirudin is best suited to continue leading the state following the conclusion of the upcoming election.
The survey, which was conducted between June 12 and June 18 via a stratified random sampling in all 56 state seats with a 3 per cent margin for error, involved an equal number of male and female Malay respondents.
Of the 1,068 voters who took part in the study, 45 per cent of them were from the B40 households with incomes below RM4,850, 40 per cent comprised M40 households with incomes between RM4,850 and RM10,959, while the remaining were among T20 individuals earning above RM10,959.
The same survey also found that 42 per cent of the respondents from among the Malay community have said they would vote for Harapan in the coming Selangor poll.
PN came in second with 33 per cent, followed by BN (15 per cent). Muda garnered just 1 per cent, while the remaining 9 per cent said they were still unsure who they would support.
Asked what would be the most important consideration when voting, 61 per cent said party would be the main factor, followed by individual candidates (28 per cent), religion (7 per cent), economy (3 per cent) and race (1 per cent).
Separately, 69 per cent of respondents said they were satisfied by the overall performance of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the country’s tenth prime minister.
Only 30 per cent said they disapproved of his leadership, while another 1 per cent did not have an opinion.
