BN no longer rival, give support for unity, stability — Former speaker

By Abdul Rahim Sabri

KLANG, Aug 11 — Pakatan Harapan’s voters and supporters have been urged to choose Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates in the Selangor State Election’s polling day tomorrow, as it is Harapan’s coalition partner.

Harapan’s candidate for Sekinchan Ng Suee Lim likewise called upon BN supporters to choose their coalition’s partner, to achieve victory together and subsequently form a Unity Government in the state.

“This is the challenge ahead of us within the next 24 hours. I request both sides reflect, as we are one big family in the Unity Government.

“Wherever Harapan is contesting, they are our candidates. Wherever BN is contesting, they, too, are our candidates. We must support them to win in Selangor,” said the former State Legislative Assembly Speaker.

Speaking at the Grand Finale Pentas Perpaduan event yesterday night, Ng cited his relationship with Sungai Besar Umno chief Datuk Jamal Yunos, who was formerly a staunch adversary.

“Once rivals, now friends for the sake of unity. He and I no longer want to quarrel, as it is enough. We want consensus for the stability and prosperity both Selangor and Malaysia,” he said.

Meanwhile, Harapan’s candidate for Meru, Mariam Abdul Rashid, said it is unnecessary for the people to change the existing state administration, which prioritises harmony among all races.

“In Selangor, there are Malays, Chinese, Indians, do we fight amongst ourselves? We want peace. So why should we change? Let us maintain peace and harmony among the diverse communities,” she said.
