SUNGAI BULOH, Aug 3 — The current status of SJK(T) Ladang Coalfields, which is dealing with high utility bills, will be promptly addressed.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shaari said the matter has been extended to the Selangor Education Department to ensure the school will no longer be burdened.
“We will review and resolve this issue, as the school should be categorised as an institution,” he said after visiting the school yesterday.
Currently, SJK(T) Ladang Coalfields is classified under a commercial status, which has led to higher utility tariffs when compared to those for institutions.
Amirudin added the state government is also ready to construct a football field or sports ground for the school to ensure its students have adequate facilities.
As its student body has increased over time, the issue will be communicated to the Education Ministry to enhance infrastructure as deemed necessary.
“Currently, there are approximately 170 students, which is expected to continue rising. We will ensure all the aforementioned issues are implemented or carried out following the Selangor State Election,” he said.
Last year, the state government allocated RM5 million to upgrade the infrastructure of 97 Tamil vernacular schools, in line with its commitment to providing optimal comfort to students.
