PETALING JAYA, Aug 7 — The Jualan Ehsan Rahmah (JER) programme selling affordable daily necessities, first introduced in September last year, will be extended until the end of next year.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said its continuation, now with support from the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry, is due to Selangor’s firm financial position.
“Once, I made humorous quips when there were no eggs. Now, I can guarantee there is a steady supply. Not only are they available on the market, but can also be brought to residents via lorries at affordable prices.
“Alhamdulillah, now JER serves the public by providing between five to 16 essential goods. Approximately four million Selangor residents are expected to benefit from the programme,” he said during the Ceramah Umum Perpaduan DUN Taman Medan event, yesterday night.
JER, under the purview of the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation, offers a variety of items including standard chickens at RM10 apiece, fresh solid beef (RM10 per pack), Grade B chicken eggs (RM10 per tray), mackerel fish (RM6 per pack), 5kg cooking oil (RM25), and 5kg rice (RM10).
As of July this year, it has been held in over 2,400 locations, recording RM60 million in sales, including over RM20 million in targeted subsidies from the state government.
