SHAH ALAM, Aug 23 — Police are offering a discount offering of up to 50 per cent on selected traffic summons in conjunction with the PDRM Selangor Merdeka RIde to be held at Shah Alam Stadium this Saturday.

In a Facebook post yesterday, state police said payment counters will be opened at the carnival site from 8am to 4pm.

The discount, however, will not apply to summons issued for road accidents, non-compoundable offences, dangerous overtaking manoeuvres, offences involving heavy vehicles, abusing the emergency lane, running a red light, overtaking on double white lines, and illegal exhaust system modifications.

Cases that are currently on trial, as well as summons issued during Op Selamat, are also exempted from the discount.

The carnival, which will be held from 7am to 7pm, will feature various activities and events, including the Merdeka Ride, where participants will cycle along a 30km route around Shah Alam, passing major landmarks like i-City, Concorde Hotel, the Blue Mosque, and Wetpark.

National cyclist Anuar Manan will also participate in the Merdeka Ride event.

Other activities that will be held include a fun fair, petting zoo, a martial arts exhibition, magic show, lucky draw, and an auto show.

Various artistes will also be performing at the festival, including Datuk Awie, Hazama, Saiful Apek and Yassing from Senario, and Haziq and Eka from Akademi Fantasia.
