PETALING JAYA, Sept 26 — The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Hulu Selangor Municipal Council (MPHS) under the Friendship City programme.
Petaling Jaya Mayor Mohamad Azhan Md Amir said the MoU would allow both local authorities to implement the programme across various fields.
“This MoU is in line with MBPJ’s aspiration to create a sustainable, enduring and smart city in addition to boosting MBPJ’s performance via citizen participation.
The MoU was signed by Azhan on behalf of MBPJ and by the Yang Dipertua of MPHS Mohd Hasry Nor Mohd during the 1st Asia Pacific Youth Folklore Festival 2023 appreciation ceremony here last night.
The Friendship City programme involves strategic plans for sustainability, good governance, workforce competence, and student, community and non-governmental organisation leadership.
Entrepreneurship, arts, culture, tourism, innovation and creativity are among other aspects of the programme.
MBPJ has pursued this programme since 2013 with cities like Kuala Terengganu, South Korea’s Asan and Seongbuk, Indonesia’s Kota Bandung, China’s Qinyuan City, and Japan’s Miyoshi.
