State allocates RM500,000 to repair damaged roof of Ampang Hilir flat

SHAH ALAM, Sept 6 — The state government has allocated half a million ringgit for the repair of the damaged roof of a flat in Taman Ampang Hilir following a thunderstorm there over a week ago.

Executive councillor for infrastructure Izham Hashim said repair works are currently ongoing, and are expected to be completed within the next few weeks.

In the interim, he said the state government, through the Social Welfare Department and National Disaster Management Agency, are assisting affected residents by providing them with temporary shelter, pending completion of the works.

“I hope that affected residents can be patient as they brave this test.

“God willing, the Pandan Indah service centre will continue to help them meet their needs and see to their welfare,” he posted on X yesterday, following a site visit.

It was reported on August 27 that heavy rain and thunderstorms had wreaked havoc in Taman Ampang Hilir, as strong winds blew away the roofs of food stalls and flats.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (Operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said following the incident, the road leading to the housing area was blocked briefly. but there were no human casualties at the time of the incident.
