Anwar: Civil servants to get up to RM2,000 incentive pending salary review

By Danial Dzulkifly

SHAH ALAM, Oct 13 – Civil servants will receive a financial incentive ranging between RM1000 and RM2000 next year, pending the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA) review, due in 2025.

This was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the tabling of Budget 2024 in parliament today, saying the amount will be disbursed in February next year.

Anwar said for Grade 56 and below, including those hired on a contractual basis, they will be entitled to a RM2,000 incentive.

Additionally, RM1,000 will be given to all senior public servants, including those serving in the police force, fire brigade, military, armed forces, and other uniformed personnel.

Anwar also announced a RM1,000 incentive for all government retirees, acknowledging the contribution of those who have retired from the service.

This includes both pensioned and non-pensioned veterans.

Similarly, the government is encouraging the private sector to review the salary and allowance scheme for their employees, taking into account the challenges of current living costs.
