HANOI, Nov 9 — Vietnam will remain the region’s fastest growing digital economy between 2023 and 2025, according to the 8th edition of the e-Conomy SEA Report published by Google, Temasek and Bain & Company.
It will grow at 20 per cent in two years, the same level as the Philippines, and followed by Thailand at 17 per cent, Indonesia at 15 per cent, Malaysia at 14 per cent, and Singapore at 13 per cent, Vietnam news agency (VNA) reported.
Despite global macroeconomic headwinds, the country’s gross merchandise value (GMV) is expected to near US$45 billion by 2025, the third highest in the region after Indonesia at US$109 billion and Thailand at US$49 billion.
The main contributors to Vietnam’s digital economy include e-commerce which will grow 22 per cent to reach US$24 billion in 2025, online tourism up 21 per cent to US$7 billion and online media appreciated by 15 per cent to US$7 billion, it added.
The country also records the fastest growth for digital financial services (DFS) in the region, the report said.
