Wisma Putra organises public diplomacy programme

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 1 — The Foreign Ministry (Wisma Putra) will organise the inaugural Public Diplomacy Programme – Hari Wisma Putra 2023, aiming to give Malaysians and foreigners a deeper understanding of the functions and roles of Wisma Putra and its representative offices abroad, on November 4 at Wisma Putra, Putrajaya.

Its Communications and Public Diplomacy Division secretary, Datuk Yubazlan Yusof, said the programme, running from 8.30am to 4.30pm, focuses on people-to-people relations as people’s decisions impact a country’s policies.

“This programme aims to cultivate people-based diplomacy that will bring Wisma Putra closer to the general public,” he said when interviewed on Bernama TV’s ‘Malaysia Petang Ini’ programme online.

Yubazlan said it is appropriate for the ministry to inform the public about the handling of foreign relations and how the ministry promotes and defends Malaysia’s interests on the international stage to contribute towards the government’s goals of ensuring the well-being of the people along with the peace and prosperity of the country.

In the programme, several interesting activities await visitors, including the Wisma Putra Pavilion, which provides a space for the public to understand Wisma Putra’s services up close in addition to holding a ‘Malaysian Breakfast to the World’ which, among other things, promotes ‘Nasi Lemak’ and ‘Teh Tarik’, and presentations by foreign embassies in Malaysia.

Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir is scheduled to officiate the programme at 12pm.
