SHAH ALAM, Dec 12 — Halal International Selangor (HIS) is collaborating with the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) in Indonesia to explore market opportunities in the country.

HIS is confident this initiative will open up more opportunities for Selangor’s halal entrepreneurs to market their products in Indonesia.

“The discussion (with Matrade) revolved around the halal product market and promotion of Selangor products in Indonesia, with both parties agreeing to mutually assist in creating more opportunities for Selangor halal entrepreneurs to bring their products to Indonesia.

“The discussion was held during the HIS delegation’s visit led by General Manager and acting Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Syaril Showkat Ali to the Matrade office in Kuningan, Indonesia (recently),” it said in a Facebook post today.

During the visit, HIS promoted the Selangor International Halal Conference Expo (Selhac) 2024, and Matrade agreed to the suggestion of Indonesian industry players participating in the event.

“Additionally, HIS will be listed as a member of Matrade’s halal mentoring agency for business activities, training, consultancy, and as a liaison agency for the international halal market,” it added.

The state government is implementing the Selangor Halal Action Plan (Selhap) 2020-2030 via the First Selangor Plan (RS-1) to position the state as a global halal hub.

Ten initiatives are being carried out, including the establishment of a Central Information Platform (CIP), Accredited Halal Operator (AHO), Selangor Halal Promotion, Selangor Halal Financing, Selangor Halal Economic Zone, and Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Development Programme in Selangor.
